Webcasting 101

Webcasting is the way forward, it is a simple and effective way of communicating with people, and now due to a radical shake up! Of the way, business is done in this Market, more people can afford to buy and use the product.

It is a medium of communication where you are in control of the message and so much more, good webcasting software is almost like owning your own interactive television channel.

Can your viewer, called an attendee speak to you?

You control it!

Can your viewer/attendee text chat with, you?

You control it!

Do you want all the viewers in the video conference... webcast, too be able to inter-act with each other?

You control it!

You control it... And so much more! All the features actually available in high quality webinar software, would take up so many pages of text, I will have to deal with them separately! Or perhaps I could do a webinar?:)

Awareness of Webcasting is growing, the take up of webinar/webcasting software is increasing, as a business owner can you afford to ignore it?

What is Webcasting?

In a nut shell it is a content delivery system, which can include:

  • Text Chat
  • Video
  • Audio
  • Power-point
  • Personal Visual Presentation and interaction
  • Desk top sharing
  • Real time web browsing
  • Record Presentation functionality
  • Phone dial in access
  • Email link access

Software's vary, the better ones include more of the above features.

Using webcasting software you can interact or communicate with people all over the world at the same time.

What do you need for webcast's?

Attendee's need access to a computer with speakers and a mike, or a phone. A web-phone preferably for reasons of cost. Now days it is not an issue, with the standard of modern computers in most peoples home.

What do Webcast Presenters need?

The following information is a rule of thumb as system requirements do vary.

  • A CPU with a processor speed of at least 1000 MHz and at least 512 MB of RAM
  • A Sound card for audio
  • A Graphics card.
  • A built-in Web-cam or a Digital Web Cam
  • Speakers and a microphone built-in possibly? or a head phone set.

Again it is nothing too fancy and I think fair to say... "Equipment available in most homes"

Here is some important information though, the power to provide such a versatile and flexible service to users online and to allow for recordings of webcasts/webinars to be streamed online, after they have been recorded for all the people who could not attend live is immense!

Webcast software is backed up by powerful servers, in as a rule commercial data centres and this for a long time has been reflected in the price!

But like all things change happens, How change can affect the price for a service like this, is for another article.
